His Life and Call for Repentance
- Habib Al-Ajmi was initially a merchant, but when he passed by some children chanting: “Here comes the usurer,” he felt remorse for his actions and sought repentance from Allah.
- He went to Sheikh Al-Hasan Al-Basri to seek guidance on the path of repentance, where he took the pledge of repentance under his guidance and learned the spiritual path and religious sciences from him.
- After his repentance, he distributed all his wealth to the indebted and the poor, gave his wife her belongings, turned away from worldly desires, and lived in a hermitage by the river.
His Miracles
- Basra Famine: When a famine struck Basra, Habib Al-Ajmi bought food and distributed it to the poor. After he prayed to Allah, the food arrived and was given to those in need.
- Provision and Reward: When his wife asked for provisions, he promised her that Allah would provide after ten days. After the time passed, a young man came carrying three hundred dirhams and provisions like flour, ghee, and honey, which he handed to Habib’s wife, and he thanked Allah for His generosity.
- Prayer for a Woman: An elderly woman came to him, crying over the loss of her son during travel, and he prayed for her. After spending a dirham on the poor, as instructed by the Sheikh, she returned home to find her son back from his journey, explaining how he reached home due to the prayer.
His Method
- Habib Al-Ajmi was a student of Sheikh Al-Hasan Al-Basri, from whom he learned the Alia way.
His Death
- He passed away in the year 119 AH.
