Birth and Noble Lineage
His Eminence Sheikh Shamsuddin was born on December 12, 1969, in Kirkuk Province, Iraq. His lineage traces back to the noble and blessed lineage of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) through Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and Lady Fatima Al-Zahra (peace be upon her). The term “Al-Kasnazani” in Kurdish means “No one knows,” which in the terminology of the Sufi path refers to a secret known only to Allah, the noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Sheikh of the Tariqa.

Academic Qualifications and Scholarly Standing
His Eminence Sheikh Shamsuddin holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Baghdad, a Bachelor’s degree in English Language from the United Kingdom, a Master’s degree in History from the Arab Institute of History, and a Doctorate in Islamic History. Fluent in several global languages, His Eminence consistently emphasizes the importance of education and knowledge as foundational pillars for societal progress.
Spiritual Succession
Signs of spiritual capabilities and readiness appeared in His Eminence Sheikh Shamsuddin from an early age. In 2005, His Eminence Sultan Muhammad Al-Muhammad Al-Kasnazan Al-Qadiri appointed him as his spiritual successor. This appointment was formally announced in 2008, granting him full agency. In 2004, His Eminence Sheikh Shamsuddin founded an academic institution named “Al-Salam University College” in Baghdad. The college offers the following disciplines:

Protecting the Shrine of Sheikh Al-Junaid Al-Baghdadi
Amid threats targeting the shrine of Sheikh Al-Junaid Al-Baghdadi (may Allah sanctify his soul), His Eminence Sheikh Shamsuddin Muhammad Nahro Al-Kasnazan symbolically raised the sword of his grandfather, Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), and led a gathering of followers in Baghdad to prevent any attacks on this sacred site. His Eminence declared his full readiness to protect the shrines of Sufi saints, delivering a resolute message to intruders to refrain from desecrating Sufi sanctuaries.
Peaceful Protests Against Quran Burning
Following the heinous act of burning the Holy Quran, His Eminence Sheikh Shamsuddin Muhammad Nahro Al-Kasnazan Al-Qadiri issued a statement condemning this despicable act. He directed the followers of the Qadiri Kasnazani Order to organize peaceful protests in front of Dutch embassies in various countries to demonstrate their rejection of this inhumane behavior.
